I thought it was about time for me to do something more outside my comfort zone. Outside of the N64 games, I’ve not played a Castlevania, so this is something new for me.
For the most part, I will be emulating the games via various cores of Retroarch. For home console games, I will be using a CRT filter for a more authentic experience, as well as nicer looking screenshots. When it comes to handheld games, I will be using an LCD filter and using a Steam Deck. Now, I know my limitations, so I will be using tools like save states and rewind features to help me out.
While I do own all of the Castlevania collections, the emulators they use have limitations so, while I’ll be looking at those collections as a whole, the games themselves will be played via Retroarch. I will also be looking at some Castlevania-adjacent games, like Konami team-up games and some games with Castlevania DLC.
