There’s an unscheduled off world activation and it’s SG-1. Teal’c and Daniel came flying through the gate at a high velocity, but no Jack or Sam. Teal’c said they were right behind them, which Daniel reiterates once he wakes up from his injuries. They don’t understand what could have happened.
We then cut to an ice cave, where there’s an injured Jack as well as Sam . She makes a split for his injured leg and they discuss their short supplies. They’re confused that they’re not at SCG – perhaps Daniel dialled a wrong number, but then sure are he and Teal’c? They know they’re not deep below the surface, but they can’t get up, especially not Jack. Sam discovers the DHD encased in ice and starts to dig it out.

SGC sends a probe back to the planet they fled, but it gets destroyed by Jaffa almost instantly. There’s no sign of Sam and Jack but Daniel knows they entered the Stargate. Teal’c points out the worst outcome – that they were still in the wormhole when it closed – but Daniel thinks an energy surge from the staff weapons caused the exit wormhole to jump elsewhere – possibly on one of the planets between Earth and where they were. Other SG teams start the search.
Back on the ice planet, Carter decided the same thing. She attempts to dial Earth but it doesn’t work. She digs out more of the DHD but it all seems to be in working order. She tries again but it doesn’t work, although back at SGC Daniel feels a tremor from the attempt. Jack is getting worse and worse and eventually offers Sam to climb out, but there’s nothing out there except more ice, so she returns to keep Jack comfortable.

As the search is called off, Daniel has an epiphany – there was one planet they didn’t try Earth. Daniel reminded everyone that the Stargate used to shame before dampers were installed, so they look for evidence of seismic activity both from when the incident occurred and when Daniel felt the tremor. They get a match for both: Antarctica. There’s a second gate on Earth. Hammond, Daniel and Teal’c head over and somehow get there before the local base finds Jack and Sam. They’re going to be fine.
While not a lot happened in the episode, it’s a great episode because of character development, particularly with Jack and Sam. The revelation of it being on Earth was also great,
