After the success of the first Monument Valley, it was only a matter of time before Ustwo made a sequel. My biggest criticism of the first game was that, while the game was great at introducing new mechanics, it didn’t really develop any of them to create a challenge, so hopefully this sorts out that issue.

Like the first, this uses impossible objects, strange geometry and perspective tricks to create a visually stunning game. I’m this one, you play as Ro, who is followed by her child. This presents some new puzzle mechanics as you try to work out how the child moves on their own, although they separate after a few levels, with you playing as each character until they team up again.

Again, nothing really gets too complex, which does keep the game relaxing, but I’m still itching for a good challenge using these mechanics. Constantly introducing new ideas, both gameplay and visual, does keep the game constantly exciting, but I want a brain teaser to match the confusion of the graphics.

There’s one additional level, added to promote the importance of trees, it’s a long level and a stunning visual journey, but without the extra DLC this time round, it doesn’t come close in difficulty to the final expansion level of the first game.

Fun
