Heading to a new planet, Stacey is the first one to come through, breaking through a spider web covering the stargate (seemingly unharmed by the unstable vortex). It seems like she has a fear of spiders, but Stacey refuses to admit it. Ec’co joins her in scouting the area and tells her that if she doesn’t accept her fears, then her fears will control her.
As they head through a gorge, they can’t contact the others. Stacey decides to climb upwards to get a signal, while Ec’co stays with the vehicle. Stacey gets caught into a trap and they both get approached by giant spiders. The one approaching Ec’co tells him that he has nothing to fear and that they are friendly, while Stacey, in a picnic, shoots the approaching spider, injuring it.

More spiders come and Bonner arrives, trying to calm down the situation. Stacey says she was attacked first and was acting in self defence, refusing to accept that fear had anything to do with it. The spiders say that she will need to stand trial with their leader, Kang’swuti. Stacey doesn’t think that it will be a fair trial, and Harrison points out that the most important lesson is respecting the local customs.
Kang’swuti says that Stacey must be sent to the house of Natositi, the injured spider. Bonner speaks to the leader who says that, if Stacey doesn’t admit the truth, then Natositi will die and Stacey would need to be punished. We see the Tlak’kahn approaching, having located Bonner and his team on this planet.

Stacey tells Seattle about when she was a kid, her grandfather had to be rushed to hospital due to being bitten by a black widow spider. Seattle leaves her alone and Stacey apologises to Natositi, saying her weapon was on stun and that she had no idea it would cause this to happen to him.
The Tlak’kahn attack. Stacey is almost hit, but is saved by Natositi, who says he was approaching her to free her from the trap. As everyone else gets cornered, Stacey works with Natositi and the other spiders to create webs to trap the Tlak’kahn (as though they would have never thought of that) and they manage to fight them off.

As they plan to leave, Stacey says she still needs to have her trial. She admits to Kang’swuti that she thought Natositi was attacking her, and instead of thinking, she just fired, and that we have small but similar creatures called spiders that she has an irrational fear of them. Kang’swuti accepts this answer and lets them go.
As they leave, Natositi gives Stacey a hug. Seattle comments on how she’s gotten over her fear, but Stacey points out that she’s still terrified of spiders, she’s just learning how to cope with it.
