This Parodius focuses a bit more on the raunchy side, with a bigger focus on giant women and some mild nudity involved. It’s a lot tougher than previous games as well, and I struggled getting through this. One new thing with this game is that missions have optional objectives, and completing or failing them will give you different levels at various points in the game. There’s no playable Castlevania character in this one, but it does have a Castlevania level.

To access it, you need to fail the objective in the second level, you’ll be whisked off to the fabled haunted castle, which is infested with colourful rats (killing 100 is the objective for the level), making your way through corridors and platforms until you reach a giant Medusa as the stage boss, avoiding the rays that turn you into stone.

The level looks great, with some great backgrounds, stained glass windows and Medusa herself being extremely well animated. However, I couldn’t last much longer in this one, losing all my lives in the first stage – but at least I got past the Castlevania section.

Fine
Need I mention the sound? It’s fantastic! Classic compositions with that Parodius touch. Get ready to see Street Fighter and Castlevania with new eyes.
