Sonic Superstars Happy Meal Game

In November 2023, McDonald’s brought some Sonic the Hedgehog Happy Meal toys to certain areas of Europe, later launching in the UK in January 2024. While the toys featured carboard standees of modern Sonic imagery, the marketing was focused on Sonic Superstars. The box included a link to a browser game, also based on Sonic Superstars.

The game is a simple maze game, as you move Sonic (or one of his friends) by swiping in a direction and he will move until he hits a wall. The objective is to collect all the rings in the fewest moves possible. The game consists of 5 stages (each with a couple of layout variants) and upon completion of the final stage, you can retry it as much as you want, loading each variant at random.

The game is short and easy, but for a Happy Meal game, it does what it sets out to do quite well. Similar to the old LCD games they had in old Sonic Happy Meals, it knows not to complicate things too much. It has a cute art style matching Sonic Superstars with some nice animation.
