I don’t really know anything about One Piece, so luckily this is a kind of side adventure where a load of characters turn up on an island for a competition. For the most part, it plays like a 2v2 arena fighter, however the main mode – the treasure battle – is essentially a form of capture the flag. There is a treasure chest in the middle and you have to get it into your box and defend it until a ship appears.

The core fighting is fairly basic and quite dull, and the only interesting thing in this is one mechanic to encourage strong teamwork: throwing the chest to your teammate is much quicker (and covers a longer distance) than a regular throw. If it were like a lot of arena fighters where this was the only mode, Treasure Battle would be fairly full, but Treasure Battle is a party game that uses the same movement and fighting controls for multiple minigames.

Most are fine, but two of them in particular stand out. There’s Cross Country where you’re competing to win an obstacle course, and Teamwork Rally where you have to get a chest to the end of the course, having to throw the chest between you to make it over gaps. It’s the most fun mode, but unfortunately only has one level.
It’s a decent party game and would likely go down quite well if everyone is a fan of the anime.

Fine
One Piece is an entertaining party game, and with its plentiful anime sequences, I would recommend a person to import this title purely to show it off, rather than as something that would provide hours of entertainment. When compared to other party games, One Piece is lacking, but when valued on its own, the game is a bit entertaining. For a while.
