In Pac-Man World 2, Pac-Man was a silent protagonist while others did a small amount of voice acting. In the third game, Pac-Man has a voice and he won’t shut up. It doesn’t suit him in the slightest, and he’ll spend most of the game rattling on about nonsense with a ghost called Orson. The plot involves some evil dude who has released someone’s eviler ghosts to take over the world, which is also bad news for the regular Pac-Man ghosts.

The platforming takes a bit of a back seat here, with a much bigger focus on combat. It’s mainly making use of Pac-Man’s ground pound while some enemies require you to use specific power ups. It’s all quite bland and you’ll just be waiting for each battle to be over. There’s also sections with the more evil ghosts which require power pellets as usual.

The rest of the game isn’t much better, as jumping feels much clunkier than the previous game and sections that make use of Pac-Man’s spin dash ability are just a nightmare to control. And all this with the constant chattering from Pac-Man and Orson, it’s enough to drive anyone crazy.

There’s also a very out of place mech level, and some underwhelming bonuses. The plot revolves around Pac-Man’s 25th birthday and the only classic game is the original, a bit step down from the previous game having a full on Pac-Man collection.

Fine
The camera lacks any kind of versatility. Yes, you can rotate it around Pac-Man, but more of ten than not, you’re just not getting the angle you need. It doesn’t always lead to death, but it makes you nervous about simple jumps.

Remake or remaster?
They may as well finish the “Re-Pac” trilogy, although it’s quite dialogue heavy and they have to change it due to the rights for Ms. Pac-Man
