This very much seems to be a game where they thought of the title first and then designed the game around that. It’s a driving game from Eutechnyx, and I can safely say that this is the best game of theirs I’ve played, although that isn’t saying much as the other two are 007 Racing and Ride to Hell: Retribution.

Because of the pun name, Big Mutha Truckers goes with a Redneck theme, which results in some people saying dumb things in dumb accents. You play as one of four characters as they compete to win the most money to take over their mother’s truck business. It’s very much arcade style as you smash other cars, attack bikers and deal with police (both are just smashing into them).

The driving isn’t bad for Eutechnyx, but still isn’t good. The trucks have little weight to them and don’t control that well. Then there’s the objectives, you drive to different towns buying and selling cargo, spending most of your profit on fuel and repairs. You choose your destination and follow directions. This results in lots of the same journeys on the same roads. There’s no shortcuts or fun things to find in the open world, and it’s really small so you’ll just be doing the same stuff again and again and again, and it’s not even fun to begin with.

Occasionally you’ll be challenged to a race, which is just like a normal drive except there’s another truck alongside you and very occasionally some small missions like smashing some cars. If you hit a biker or police then they’ll start chasing you, but even that gets tedious after a couple of journeys. There’s very little to this game, and it only exists because it sounds a bit like a swear word.

Fine
Damage and fuel consumption are two major factors. Before you pull out of town, you’ll need enough gas in your tank to get to your next port of call. Plus, you’ll need to make sure that any damage incurred in previous bumps and bangs is repaired at the local garage. And here’s where the real problems lie: these two costs are, relative to the amount of cash you make from the sale of your goods, astronomical.
