The name “City Racer” stood out to me at first, it’s such a boring name that makes it sound like the most generic racing game with zero personality. I do have to give kudos to UbiSoft for the name, though, as the name is actually a fair representation of the game.

City Racer is a game that would feel bad if it were and early N64 game, and looks worse than plenty of N64 games, too. The handling is horrendous and even going in a straight line is difficult. The tracks are also boring with many turns that the cars simply can’t drive around.

There is one thing it does differently to other car games, as this is actually a Kart style racer, with items dotted across the track. Some shoot forward, some get placed on the track had others protect you, and it all feels inconsequential with them having very little impact. This is just dull all around.

Poor
City Racer is a decent rental, but unless you’re a collector, stay in the passing lane. This shoulda been fine-tuned more before being shipped, and that’s the bottom line. Now excuse me while I soak my blistered thumbs for a few hours.

Remake or remaster?
There’s nothing interesting here. Blur is an example of this game being done well.
Official Ways to get the game
There’s no official way to buy City Racer.

Glad you mentioned Blur @Cube, as that’s the first thing I thought of when I read that description.
RIP Bizzare Creations. You died far too young 🙁
