While Meijin roughly translates to “Master”, it’s a specific title in Japanese culture, one of eight titles for professional Shohi, and also used in different Japanese arts, which makes the original Japanese word more important than its translation. Immortal Meijin is a series of Shogi games that mainly appeared on PC, then branched out on consoles (although it skipped the N64).

This one has a lot of features, including an immense amount of different modes, setups and difficulties. The interface is very clear and shows possible moves when you select a piece. You can rotate the board 180° at will, so in a 2-player game, if you like looking the board with your pieces at the bottom, you can both do that. While I still don’t understand Shogi, this seems well featured, although a little lacking in personality.

Fine
There’s not much more to this game other than you being able to play against the computer also. I really like the music though
