Meet the Robinsons is a Disney film that is mostly forgotten. Chicken Little was Disney’s first CGI film, but it wasn’t really until Tangled that they really started taking off. From what I played of the game, it involves the son of an inventor who likes to sneak out in his dad’s time machine for his own amusement, but his attempt to sneak off to the ship allows for a villain that looks like Dick Dastardly to sneak in and steal it.

This whole process involves you exploring the Robinsons house and interacting with various cliche and bland cousins, uncles and aunts, doing menial tasks for them. Jumping is Zelda-style, but the length of the jump is dependent on where you are jumping from – so sometimes you’ll try to jump and your character will just hand off the edge because it isn’t somewhere that the game wants you to jump, even though your character makes longer jumps.

The game really just feels like a tedious chore list, from shooting random objects to turn into resources, searching for random doodads or playing dull minigames. It’s just following instructions and letting the game mostly play itself, with the biggest challenge figuring out where to do in some sections because you eliminated a route because you didn’t stand in the exact spot for the context sensitive button to appear.

Poor
The other problem is The Traditional Curse Of The Game Intended Primarily For Kids: repetition. You can’t get a round of Pong-like minigame Chargeball without getting another three rounds afterwards. And one early boss battle actually jumps like a turntable, sending you back with a brief spurt of seemingly broken cutscene to do exactly the same switch-battering thing – three times.
