The Muppets try their hand at Mario Party this time. Not a terrible choice – a cast of fun, lovable characters that are often up to strange and random antics. But, other than a small amount of mildly amusing cut-scenes, this might be the worst board game party game I’ve played.

The minigames themselves are atrocious. They’re poorly explained, the scoring makes no sense and they are a nightmare to control. You aren’t even shown scores during a minigame so you can’t even tell how well you’re doing. There are some neat ideas, such as a co-op game where your cars are broken down so, in a team of two, one person mashes A and B to push the car while the other steers. There’s just two huge problems. First is that this is not actually a co-op game. There’s only one winner, so each action scores an unknown number of points. Secondly, it requires a rhythm I couldn’t fathom (not mashing) and the CPU is pretty much perfect at any minigame like this.

The board game itself is also really bad. You have to enter doors to play specific minigames to collect trinkets, when one player has them all, they win. If you win a part and someone else triggers the minigame and wins, they’ll take it off you. So if you have people who are good at different minigames, the game will only end when one person loses the will and chooses not to win the one they’re good at. Oh, and you can collect credits to buy points in minigames.

Worst
Strangely, even though the mini-games aren’t much fun and the game is ghastly boring, it’s the music that is the worst feature in this game. Imagine, if you will, a two-minute long loop of the worst Caribbean music of all time repeated in every aspect of the game until you’re ready to listen to a John Tesh concert just to get it out of your head! This music definitely goes a few steps beyond unbearable, and may actually be hazardous to your health.
