My first instinct when I saw this was that it would be Power Pros Baseball with a different skin. Still, it’s best to give Konami the benefit of the doubt as they did make four different football games for the GameCube. However, once I got into the menus, it became clear that this was Power Pros with realistic looking characters, as it not only features similar icons for player condition, but even has Power Pro characters on the menu.

The gameplay also feels very similar, with a similar HUD layout. It does translate really well to a realistic style, and the picture in picture display looks great, one of the nicest HUD styles I’ve seen in a baseball game. The gameplay itself feels very similar to Power Pros, but actually seemed easier to get some runs in. It does, however, lack some major features like the story mode.

Fine
In conclusion, it was a game that pushed the boundaries of what was expected from sports video games at the time. Its focus on realism, extensive roster, and immersive gameplay elements have ensured that it remains a memorable entry in the genre, even from a 2024 standpoint. It’s a testament to the game’s quality that it continues to be discussed and appreciated more than two decades after its release..

Remake or remaster?
I’m not really sure what modern baseball games are like.
