Cocoto is an imp-like creature that is the star of a series of European budget games, this being the first on GameCube. It’s a very simple platformer where you have to reach the top level of a series of circular platforms. It’s essentially a 2D platformer as you can only move left and right – quite similar to Iggy’s Reckin Balls.

Your main ability is creating an arch of rock, letting you climb higher and create more arches. The mechanic is straight out of Rainbow Island, although if you jump on these platforms, they collapse. You can get power ups that can make it longer and last longer. You’ll lose these if you get hit, which is never something you have to worry about. There’s also an invincibility power-up that plays the Mario invincibility music.

Cocoto has a pitiful swipe attack, but can also throw out flaming forks to hit enemies, which has far better range and no limit, so I don’t know why the other one even exists. A few different types of platforms crop up throughout the game, but it never gets interesting. Just a few borrowed ideas used for a low budget game.

Poor
Unfortunately, Cocoto never gets anywhere near interesting. Though the levels look different and feature different enemies, they all feel pretty much the same. The bosses at the end of each level require a bit of figuring out, but once you discover their individual weaknesses, victory is just a matter of repetition and exploitation.
