Another anime fighting sequel, this time Dragon Ball Z again. It brings new characters, new stages while most of the rest feels pretty much the same. The campaign mode is very different this time, though. The first had you play out fights from the show, accompanied by abridged narration, with minigames and other little sections for some key events.

Here, the main campaign mode is a strange turn based board game. You move characters around the board one space at a time. You can collect things to improve your stats and fight opponents. Minions are defeated in one go but come back later, while the main villains you need to defeat four or five times. It’s immensely repetitive.

Poor
To be fair, the game definitely looks the part – in some ways it looks better than the original cartoon. The characters are spot on and the backgrounds are fantastic. It feels like you’re playing the cartoon. It’s just a massive shame that there is no skill necessary to play this game.

Remake or remaster?
Perhaps a combination of all the Budokai games.
