A video game combining three Nickelodeon franchises: SpongeBob Squarepants, Jimmy Neutron, Timmy Turner (from Fairly Odd Parents) and someone I’ve never heard of called Danny Phantom. The huge worldwide popularity of SpongeBob compared to the others is probably why it was called SpongeBob SquarePants and Friends: Unite! outside of North America.
It’s a very typical co-op beat-em-up, just smashing enemies and occasionally pressing buttons that are unique to each character. Timmy and Jimmy use guns while SpongeBob and Danny use their fists, so there is at least a slight difference.
What doesn’t help is that the first few levels take place in the world of Danny Phantom, with everything being grey, so not only do you have boring gameplay, the first few hours are boring to look at as well. Oh, and like usual, all of the issues are once again caused by Jimmy Neutron.
Poor
If you want an awesome children’s title, they’re out there, and there’s certainly more to come as well. Nicktoons Unite combines four of the top brands on the Nick roster, but loses a ton of the focus while doing so. The presentation is average at best, each character’s abilities are scaled down to make room for the entire team, and the gameplay takes a hit when compared to previous products. The
