While Doraemon had three games on the N64, the anime only had one on GameCube, and this one seems to be smaller in scope, with only a small amount of levels. The majority of the game consists of three levels with gameplay similar to Gauntlet, with enemies coming from spawners that you destroy.

However, the camera is far too zoomed in, even with a widescreen hack allowing you to see more. You can barely see anything. Not that you really need to, just keep on blasting off camera to kill enemies and spawners, then do a little bit of jumping and some puzzles. Each of the main levels also has a basic fishing minigame in order to open a door.

Throughout each level, you’ll also encounter the main villain and have to compete in some basic minigames, like dodging a train, bullfighting or tennis. They’re very simple, more so than a Mario Party minigame. If you want a higher score, you can also collect bells and complete optional puzzles.

Two of the game’s levels are shooting levels, one a turret section and one a Star Fox style shooter. They work well enough, but don’t offer much excitement. The main thing of interest are the bosses, which are all quite easy, except the final two bosses, but by then you’ll have enough extra lives to slowly take them out. That said, it might be more enjoyable with others, as it does support co-op.

Fine
Actually a really fun Doraemon game. You don’t need to understand Japanese to play this at all. There’s 5 stages and 6 bosses. The stages felt very varied to me and fun to play.
