Happy Feet is a film about a penguin society where each penguin has a special “heart song”, which turns out to be pop songs. You play as newborn penguin Mumble as he grows up and discovers that he’s different – he dances instead of sings. The game is split up into three gameplay styles.
The main one is dancing, which is a bad Dance Dance Revolution clone. While you could technically plug in a dance mat for these sections, the game specifically tells you to use a controller, and just tapping the D-pad is so monumentally boring.
Next up is swimming. Mumble will automatically swim along a path, so you just mode slightly up, down, left and right. It’s another boring section, with the main difficulty only existing because of the lack of depth perception.
Finally is sliding, you’ll slide down a hill, moving left to right. You can perform jumps and tricks and different terrain types will speed you up or slow you down, so at least this one has something to it. It’s still not that much fun and round out a very bland game.
Poor
More off-putting ad the Texan accents – we doubt most Texans even know what a penguin is. And if there’s one thing more irritating than Robin Williams voicing a Hispanic penguin, then it’s someone doing a poor impression of Robin Williams as a Hispanic penguin.
