MX Superfly really feels like the entire game is played as though there’s a slow-motion cheat turned on at all times. It never gets fast, jumps are extremely floaty and stunts take ages to perform. Because of this, racing in MX Superfly is never exciting, and there’s nowhere near enough tactics involved to make up for such a slow pace.

Which is a shame, as MX Superfly features some nice tracks and features. While it never goes as far as Excitebike 64 for track variation, it’s still more than a bunch of compressed stadium tracks, with other modes like freestyle and a host of minigames, like keeping balloons in the air, football, pizza delivery and more.

Unfortunately, these minigames also feel somewhat lacking. Pizza Delivery takes place on a unique city level, but you don’t get a map on your radar. It also seems like it should be a Crazy Taxi clone, but it’s unclear how it works. I found pizzas in the level, but they just seemed to score at random points. All the minigames fail to live up to what you expect them to be.
Which sums up the whole game. It shows promise, but it never reaches that promise.

Fine
As you’d expect from a Moto Cross game, the usual options are available, such as freestyle courses where you attempt to get as much air as you can in order to bust as many trick combos as your height will allow. There’s also the mandatory two-player for you to get stuck into, as well as a track editor you can create your own stunt courses on. But while all the ingredients are there, there’s just something that’s not quite right with MX Superfly.
