The one thing I know about Samurai Jack is that it was made by Genndy Tartakovsky, whose unique style can also be seen in the first animated Star Wars: Clone Wars show. Not that it matters for this, as none of the style is seen in the game. This is everything you would expect from a licensed tie-in to a samurai cartoon: a basic hack-n-slash with a small amount of platforming.

It’s competent, but there’s not much to do. Before long, I found myself not even bothering with combat as you can just run past 90% of enemies you encounter. The levels are empty and rather short as well, with the occasional minor distraction of having to press a switch or find a key. It might distract a kid for a few hours, but not much more.

Poor
Hopefully somebody will have another crack at Jack in the future, and take inspiration form Capcom’s spectacularly original yet strangely familiar Viewtiful Joe. If nothing else, the 2D look would be much better suited to the cartoon’s style.
