Shinji Mizushima is a manga artist that specialises in baseball-themed manga, and this game allows you to pit his characters from multiple manga (such as Abu-san and Dokaben) against professional baseball teams. One really strange thing is that there are no set teams for the manga characters, instead you pick another team and can swap them out for these special characters. These characters can have unique characteristics, such as Iwaki Masami, who has an immensely small hitting region but if you make contact, it’s definitely going to be a home run.

Outside of these characters, it’s a standard baseball game. It all works well, even if there’s not much to it. What’s really strange is that the game uses “realistic” graphics for the most part, making the manga characters stand out in an unpleasant way. This would be so much nicer if everyone had the manga style, especially as other cartoony baseball games went with a much more chibi style.

This was another Triforce arcade game from Sega, although I’ve been unable to find any imagery of the arcade cabinet, so I’m not sure if it did anything cool like have a baseball bat to physically swing, although it was definitely a Triforce game as I’ve found images of the Triforce game disc.

Fine
This game is excellent! I’ve had it for about a year now and never tire of it. The gameplay is very fluid, you can play with or without the anime characters, and if you’re in the mood to use them, it can be pretty fun.
Keibu’s Dad, JapaneseBaseball.com
Without them, it’s a good baseball game.
Remake or remaster?
I feel a game like this should dive into the manga side more.
