VIS Entertainment made two terrible Power Stone clones on: Powerpuff Girls and Tom and Jerry, both franchises they also worked on for the GameCube. While Powerpuff Girls was a different take on it (and surprisingly fun, if short), this Tom and Jerry game is a direct sequel to the N64 game. Thankfully, it’s not as mind-numbingly basic, improving it just enough to be almost passible.

The biggest change is the levels, which will get smashed up as the fights happen. They also all have hazards such as floods, avalanches and dragons breathing fire. It helps keep the game more frantic. The core fighting isn’t much cop, though, with a regular three-punch combo being the most effective thing to use, often better than throwing objects.

There’s also still not much to the game. There’s so few characters that you only have access to Tom and Jerry at the start, so you have to complete the game twice if you want to have unique characters for the 4-player mode. Once everything is unlocked, it can be amusing with the right people, but it’s still a tiny package.

Poor
Since the game is so simplistic, I’d say it might make a good party game, but for a single person, this game will last a couple hours at best unless you’re a really big Tom and Jerry fan. However, for the multiplayer only, if you can get a copy at Target, where the game should still be available for $17, the game is certainly worth that, at least for those of you who have somebody else to play with.
