Until I booted the game up, I didn’t realise that this was another EA Sports video game (UEFA was with Eidos before this one). While the interface is different, this is heavily based on FIFA, just with its own cost of paint. Even the annoying issue with queuing up actions (making your players shoot if you try to tackle but intercept the ball) is persistent in this.

The biggest change in this is that it’s based on the Champions League, which means no international teams and only a small selection of European teams from a small number of countries. It’s a cheap cash likely intended for uninformed patents – you can easily set up Champions League tournaments in regular FIFA.

Poor
It’s also very well presented, setting new standard for TV-style camera angles and dramatic cutaways. The ball could go out for a throw, and you’ll be treated to a quick replay of a key moment from several minutes ago, complete with managerial reaction. Champion.

Remake or remaster?
Nothing for this.
