Coming out on the same day as Marvel Nemesis and probably contributing to its failure (I wonder if Activision did it on purpose) is another Marvel beat-’em-up, this time with a much deeper story (especially within levels), just like the first X-Men Legends. As enough people liked the first, this is very much more of the same to make those people happy. Which makes sense.

The main threat this time is Apocalypse, which has caused the X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants to team up to decent Magneto’s homeland (and the world) from the evil(er) reign of Apocalypse. Which gives you a wider range of characters to play as. Although the dialogue often seems odd as it rarely changes based on who you’re controlling.

There’s still a few different kinds of attacks, along with powers you unlock as you level up, and the process of levelling up is much nicer (you can even set it to automatic), but if you don’t like the first game, this won’t win you over.

Fine

It’s ugly, but actually very enjoyable and there’s plenty to feel involved with. It gets better too – the co-op mode will make for a cracking week of evening with your mates and, even if you’re on your own, developers Raven have supplied a number of very considerate numbers to make your life easier.
