After years of Bond games since GoldenEye, Pierce Brosnan finally takes on the role of actually voicing the character instead of just allowing them to use his likeness. With other big stars taking on key roles in Everything or Nothing – such as Willem DaFoe being a great Bond Villain, it really helps nail the look and feel of a James Bond film. So much so that this really does feel like this was directly based on a Bond film which was somehow erased from time.

The game takes a third person perspective, but thankfully with much better controls than the previous third person Bond game, Tomorrow Never Dies, making the game much smoother to play. The regular gunplay is extremely solid and the game throws set piece after set piece after you to ensure you’re entertained the whole way through. The only thing spoiling the flow is that missions are separated into smaller ones, to avoid loading screens.

There are also plenty of vehicles to enjoy: a helicopter, some cars and a tank. A few of these are chaotic high-octane while others are more open areas, such as one where you need to sneak around in an invisible car. They all control extremely well and these sections are immensely good fun, and sell the action nature of the Bond films really well.

While I don’t think it quite matches up to Nightfire, it’s still an immensely enjoyable game that captures the feel of the Bond films more than any other Bond game.

Great
All the layers of flashy presentation in the world can’t disguise the fact that this game is fundamentally flawed. There’s enjoyment to be had from it, for sure – something about it has kept us coming back for another go, half an hour after throwing down the pad in a fit of crap-design-induced pique. But it isn’t something you’re every likely to play ‘to death’ despite the wealth of unlockable extras and extra objectives on the harder difficulty levels.
