While it advertises “40 minigames”, this isn’t really all that true. While the name does give the impression that you’ll be playing lots of different carnival games, it doesn’t fall into the trap of trying to be a Mario Party clone with inconsistent minigames. Instead, it’s very much one type of minigame done is slightly different ways: a lightgun shooter.

The rounds are short and sweet, and there are different kind of rounds to complete, including some more puzzle-based ones like matching targets. There are also balloons to shoot which either give you powers or mess things up. Everything is very swift and smooth, and while the game doesn’t do much, it does what it sets out to do quite well. I can imagine, with the rounds being short, taking turns with a light gun to see who is the best would be a lot of fun to do.

There’s just one massive problem: the GameCube doesn’t have any light guns. So while the PS2 version of this game had what was needed to make the game a lot of fun, GameCube users had to move a cursor with an analogue stick. Which is not fun for a game like this at all. Unsurprisingly, this game later became a pointer-based game on the Wii (the Wii Remote would be shown off a month after this came out), but the GameCube version just has no reason to exist at all.

Poor
There’s not much to the game but aiming and shooting, and the “adventure” is over within the hour that you start it. Other than multiplayer features the bulleted list is rather short: no unlockables, no extra modes, no original gameplay, and the only statistic tracked is an overall high score.
