Before the first game got a release outside of Japan, the second game is already here. As with the first game, I’ll go over specific features in the English reviews, where I can read what’s going on a lot better, but for the most part this is the same bongo bashing rhythm game with a new sets of songs. One noticeable thing is that the backgrounds are flybys of 3D environments. They don’t have much in relation to DK or the songs, though.

The selection features some more upbeat J-Pop songs, faster classical tunes, some catchy anime tunes and some more rock n roll Nintendo music. It works much better than the original because of this, as the songs fit the rhythm genre (and the bongos) much more. Which is a good sign for when I reach the English versions.

Fun
There’s also an interesting Latin mix of the Zelda theme, and a brilliant Japanese version of Yankee Doodle. The drum tracks are noticeably more challenging than before, with some tricky new technique cropping up in even the easier tunes.

Remake or remaster?
A Donkey Konga with Nintendo songs would be good.
Official Ways to get the game
There is no official way to get Donkey Konga 2.
