Another Wonderful Life is essentially a patched version of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. There’s a few quality of life improvements, such as chapters only lasting one year, the ability to train your dog and some new outfits, but the game is mostly the same game as the previous one. The main difference is that you play as a girl. You can’t choose to play as a boy with the other improvements, so it’s not a replacement for the previous game, either.
As you play as a girl, you have three guys to choose from as your partner. Instead of creating new characters suited for the game, three already existing male characters are your marriage candidates. Two seem much older while the other acts like a toddler. Events are still a pain to trigger as well, so they didn’t improve that aspect.
A few other bits of dialogue are altered, but for the most part it’s a slightly updated game with some poor marriage choices. If only both versions had been combined…
What’s also harsh is that the developers haven’t taken the time to fix some of the niggling problems that let them down in the first game. The first year still drags a little, and things like selling goods to the local shopkeeper are still annoyingly clumsy.
