The third Frogger game on the GameCube, and the third with a completely different presentation, with Frogger and his girlfriend seeming like annoying teenagers in a kids show. His girlfriend keeps seeing creepy shadows and, at first, it turns out to be their other friends, until Frogger discovers an evil plan from a crocodile tribe. It’s all rather boring.

The gameplay is still the same as the PS1 frogger games, and absolutely nothing feels new when you play it. The controls are still done in a way where it’s very easy to make mistakes and it just never gets exciting, especially after six games of the exact same thing. The developers of the PS1 games at least added some interesting new mechanics for Zapper, and they probably would have tried to evolve the games if they were allowed to carry on with Frogger.

Poor
Sadly, the multiplayer component is really the only thing Frogger: Ancient Shadow has going for it. Its single-player component doesn’t bring anything new to the table, and, what’s worse, none of the problems from previous games have been fixed or improved.

Remake or remaster?
Perhaps in a collection of all Frogger games.
