While only two Clash of Ninja games were released in the west, they carried on longer in Japan. In this game, the core gameplay feels exactly the same, with a few new characters added to the roster. For fans that just want to carry on playing through the series, they get what they want.

That said, the campaign is slightly different. I made it through five or six enemies when I encountered something odd. I was defeating my opponents, but the game said I failed. Hidden in the pause menu was an objective: I had to use specific moves during the match, ones I didn’t know. It’s a bit strange that this isn’t said up front, but at least it forces you to play in different ways.

Fine
Naruto 3 could be the next Smash Bros. or Soul Calibur II in town if you pick it up. It’s flashy and fun, but also intricate enough to be fun for a long time. Get it from Lik Sang!

Remake or remaster?
