While all the previous Shrek games have either avoided voice acting or had really bad voice acting. While this still uses sound-alikes, they all do a really convincing job. Which is quite amusing considering this game’s story mode is 20 minutes long with a small handful of cutscenes. The game involves random Shrek characters telling stories to the Dronkeys (the children of Donkey and the Dragon).

Which results in a bunch of random battles between various Shrek characters. It’s a basic arena fighter with a tiny number of items to use. There’s no health bar here. Instead, you wail on your opponents until you gain your special move and hitting them with this move will give you a point. It makes 3v1 battles interesting as the solo player can build up their power bar more easily and can earn multiple points by taking multiple opponents out with their special.

Although it’s also very easy to run away from your opponents. Get the first point and you can just jump around the level until time runs out and you win with ease. There’s also not much to the combat anyway.

Poor
It looks quite pretty and it definitely captures the humour of the films – Shrek’s special slam is a far – but it’s all very basic stuff and you’ll get through the Story mode in less than an hour.
