While Konami’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games have been beat-’em-ups, this one is a basic arena-fighter. Ultimately, it feels as though they’ve just swapped out the levels for small box-shaped rooms. There is a campaign for each character which pits you against different groups of enemies, but every battle just feels the same.

There are boxes and items dotted about that contain weapons, some of them are extremely powerful. The boxes respawn in the same places, so the main tactic is to just camp on the spot and keep grabbing a new weapon when one breaks. The focus on weapon pick-ups makes every character feel the same.

This is just another boring licensed arena fighter.

Poor
Mutant Melee simply amounts to an extremely poor effort. It seems to exist solely for the purpose of taking advantage of the fans of the TMNT cartoon. Regardless of your opinion of the show, or past games in the series, be sure to steer clear of Mutant Melee.

Remake or remaster?
